Asphalt Paving Supervisor

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:  Plans, schedules organizes and directs construction operations.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:    Foreman and Supervisors report directly to project superintendent and/or Vice President of Operations.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:     Supervises members of the crew on their work project.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:      Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally may require the ability to operate various types of construction equipment. Requires correct vision and hearing within normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:  Frequent exposure to rain, sleet, snow, dust, mud, heat, cold, noise and other conditions coming to construction site. Contractual obligations may require irregular hours, out-of-town work, overnight stays, nights, weekends, and holidays.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:  (This may not include all of the duties assigned)
1. Plans, schedules and organizes activities of crew members and project personnel.
2. Reads and interprets blueprints, plans and specifications.
3. Performs site layout.
4. Communicates performance expectations to project personnel.
5. Prepares necessary documentation, reports and other paperwork.
6. Know and understand, as well as follow, the rules and regulations of the Company “Employee Safety Policy and Handbook.”
7. Performs related work as required.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge to communicate effectively and accurately. Knowledge and understanding of the general scope of the construction industry, including the ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, blueprints, building codes and other project documents. Knowledge of layout procedures with stringlines. Knowledge of the building process through and including punch list completion of a project. Ability to efficiently use transit, hand-held eye-level, and grade rod. Knowledge of basic staking including offsets, cuts and fills. Knowledge of safe and efficient use of hand and power tools. Ability to drive any on-site construction vehicles. Basic reading, writing and simple math skills required.

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent may be required.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years’ experience may be required.

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE: Valid and active driver’s license.

ALTERNATIVE TO MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Experience within this job description may be vital but not required.
